In 2014, Antonio Lajara was invited for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (England) to compete for the role of Leverhulme Young Conductor in Association. Also, he was finalist for the role of Assistant Conductor in l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Montpellier (France) and Naples Philharmonic (Florida, USA).
He was finalist in the 53º International Competition for Young Conductors of Besançon (France) and selected to participate in the II International Conducting Competition “Antal Dorati” in Budapest.
Antonio, has also worked with young orchestras as the Spanish National Youth Orchestra, Galician Youth Orchestra (Spain) and the Malaga Youth Orchestra (Spain).
Born in Alicante (Spain), Antonio Lajara studied conducting at the Basque Country Conservatory of Music (Musikene) under the guidance of maestro Enrique García Asensio and Manel Valdivieso. His teachers included, Bruno Aprea and Andrés Orozco Estrada. Also, he has participated in the International Masterclasses of conducting in the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, in the International Masterclasses in Berlin and in the Gstaad Menuhin Festival with maestros Neeme Jarvi and Johannes Schlaefli.
Currently, he is the Artistic and Music Director of the Ponent Youth Orchestra (Spain).
